Surface Preparation - Metal

For iron parts that are not factory primed, clean and sand thoroughly to remove corrosion. Prime with our Rust-Protection Primer. Allow to dry thoroughly. For ferrous metals pre-primed by the manufacturer and not exhibiting any corrosion, clean and sand thoroughly and apply a first coat diluted with 5% water. Not appropriate for galvanized steel or nonferrous metals. Physical/Technical Characteristics Working conditions: Min 10ᵒC, max 30ᵒC. Max. RH 85%; optimal is 20-23ᵒC at 50-65 RH Density: 1.02 – 1.30 g/cm³ depending on colour shade Gloss level: 5 at 20ᵒ, 20 at 60ᵒ, 45 at 85ᵒ measured in white. VOC content: ≤1 g/L (Cat A/dwb, max permissible 130g.L) which is 0.09%. Perspiration and saliva-fast (DIN 53160 / EN 71 Part 3) Safe for toys (DIN EN71 part 3) Abrasion resistance: Class 1 (EN 13300). Surface Preparation - Wood

The surface must be dry, clean, solid and coatable. Thoroughly sand existing coatings and clean off all dust. Existing coatings that are non-recoatable or unstable should be completely removed by sanding or stripping. Suitable wood fillers should be applied before application of any paint products. External Painting Do not expose unfinished coats to wet weather within 48 hours of application. Check each coat is dry by sanding lightly before applying next coat. Do not paint when day or night time temperature is less than 10°C or in driving rain or snow. Check annually and repair any defects immediately. Clear flat surfaces from standing water. Priming Please do not use with acrylic primers. Natural paints do not always adhere to PVC primers so avoid if possible. If the surface has already been primed it is important to ascertain what primer has been used and then advice can be given about suitability of top coat. All bare wood should be primed with our Water Based Primer to create a uniform, coatable surface. All MDF and ply must be primed with our Water Based Primer or the paint will be absorbed. Bleeding knots on bare woods should be pre treated with our Water Based Primer. Apply 2 coats of primer over knots to prevent bleeding. Previously painted wood should be sanded thoroughly and cleaned off before testing the surface for suitability by doing a tester patch, leave to dry to ensure the paint will adhere and cure. Apply at least 2 top coats. Drying (23 °C/ 50% rel. humidity) Dust dries after approximately 2 hours, recoatable after approximately 6 hours. Fully cured after approximately 24 hours. Colour range Available in all colours.

Emulsion

Previously painted surfaces

Remove all loose and flaking paintwork to a solid edge. If using over wallpaper carefully reseal wallpaper seams and remove paste residues. Degrease thoroughly with a suitable detergent solution and rinse with clean water. Fill all holes, cracks, and imperfections with a suitable filler, sand and remove all dust, then apply primer as appropriate (see below). Choice of filler should be based on compatibility with the surface to be filled. We recommend our Natural Wall Filler or for larger areas skim coating with our Natural Skim Coat. Filled areas can have a different level of absorbency. All filled areas should be primed before applying finish coats. If filling covers a large area, we recommend our Natural Grip Coat.

Gloss

Not appropriate for galvanized steel or nonferrous metals. Application – All surfaces Stir well before use and check correct colour before application. All surfaces should be clean and dry. The ambient temperature should be above 10ºC and below 30ºC at 50-60% rh. Thoroughly stir and apply 2/3 coats evenly (and then lay off in the direction of the grain – for wood), using brush or foam/short pile roller. Sand lightly to make sure surface is dry before recoating and remove dust between coats. Also suitable for spraying: High pressure, mist reduced, airmix. Tested with Wagner SF23Plus and pistol Vector Grip. Nozzle type Fine Finish TT3, nozzle size 410 gun filter red. Spray pressure 100 bar. External Painting Do not expose unfinished coats to wet weather for over 48 hours. Check each coat is dry by sanding lightly before applying next coat. Do not paint when day or nighttime temperature is less than 10 degrees C or in driving rain or snow. Check annually and repair any defects immediately. Clear standing water on flat surfaces. Drying (23 °C/ 50% rel. humidity) Dust dry after approximately 2 hours, re-coatable after approximately 6 hours. Fully cured after approximately 24 hours.
